 I'm with mufdiver on Lee Child's books. Harlen Coben, David Baldacci, Nelson DeMille,
John Grisham, Karin Slaughter, John Sandford just to name a few good authors.,

 What genre do you like?

Preston & Childs have some good stories with a touch of the macabre.
There's a good vampire series by Barb & JC Hendee.

I like short stories for in between times. Roald Dahl, Poe, O Henry
Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!
