New Content Filters -- What should we call them?

New Content Filters -- What should we call them? We'll soon be implementing a third filter option for photos. Currently, the content filter can only be set to 'off' or 'on,' either showing you every image, or blocking anything with nudity completely.  Coming soon will be three different options to choose from: 1) No nudity: think PG. Nothing beyond scantily clad-- no nipples, boobs, etc. 2) Nudity: X-rated, but NO close-up shots of genitalia. 3) Full nudity: no holds barred. No images are censored; you are shown everything, including close-up genital shots. So, what do you all think? Feel free to share any suggestions for what we should call these three levels of filtering! |

I figure what's the difference? It's an adult site - people know what they're getting into when they join. If they don't want to see nudity or other adult content, maybe they should join the non-nude friendly "Friend Finder" or eHarmony.

I think "Nice, Naughty, Nasty" works, but I don't see the need for anything beyond "On" and "Off." .

Feel free to share any suggestions for what we should call these three levels of filtering! I'd call them another attempt to distract us from the fact that you still haven't fixed the problem with our profiles being crossposted to other Various-owned sites like FuckASlut, MySecretSlut, etc. When will we get the ability to block our profile info from being misused in this way? P.S. Friend Finder Networks (NASDAQ symbol: FFN) is currently trading at 90 cents per share and is still dropping. How close to zero does Various want to go?

You are going to start getting flak on the 'it is a sex site why filter?'. Let me note that SOME people don't want to see constantly a computer screen full of close ups of genitalia.. men AND women have voiced this repeatedly. The idea of the added filter was voted on and overwhelmingly people responded that they wanted it. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO USE IT!! If YOU choose to continue to see anything and everything that is there, but for everyone it isn't what they want to see and sending them to another site i.e. Ehrmny is really ridiculous. We WANT sex just not cocks or vaginas looking like an OB appointment shoved in our faces 24/7. If we can have something in between that helps EACH OF US have a BETTER stay here then I am all for it. Please, quit yelling we MUST see something when this is an OPTION. If you wish to see then SEE, but if someone wants to turn it off then let them. No one for all the years you had only the on and off has yelled get rid of the off button, so having an in between button or setting I think is REALLY a great idea. I like the PG, R, XXX, but I like the Nice, Naughty, and Nasty as well. I am sure I will get a ton of negatives for this.. oh well...lol I am just for everyone having a BETTER time. We are all different so why not each of us choose the photos we wish to see is all. Again, no one is forcing anyone to NOT see them, you just choose the XXX or Nasty and use no filter for your settings.

I just want to point out... notice how we even have a level of what words we each prefer to use and/or not use? I can totally understand the point of not liking the word 'nasty' as a level. I myself had not thought of it in the way it was used like that, and I totally can see that. Everyone is different, and that is a GREAT thing. The same with the 'filters'. Some don't want to see any of the naked pics and for YEARS the 'off' button was there. No one has said it is wrong or to leave the site if you feel the need to use it. No one said it is an adult site you MUST see cocks/vaginas. It was and IS okay to use that as it has always been there. There will be those that only want to see 'some' of the naked photos and not necessarily see the close ups of cocks/vaginas. They want to see full body shots etc... That is OKAY as well. There will be those that want to see everything. THAT IS ALSO okay. It is each person's choice.No one is being censored. No one is saying you can't post a picture of any sort. Post away!!! Take as many as you like. No one's rights are being infringed upon. You wouldn't know who has chosen to block a photo, who chose to see some photos, or who is going to see all of the photos, which is how it has ALWAYS been with just the two filters we have always had. Please, keep that in mind... no one is being censored or told to NOT take/post photos of any sort. It is the recipients that will choose what they get to see the same as we choose with the Cupid filters which emails we get and can block. For the record.. I DO agree totally now that it has been said and put the way it was... I want to change my answer to "Nice, Naughty, XXX" for my second choice.

How about Clothed, Mild, Explicit? *********************************** I also like kissmypatootie's "dressed, full monty, hardcore." But I wonder whether everyone knows that "full monty" includes showing your genitals. Personally, I'd reserve the middle category for all naked, non-genital and non-anal shots. In the middle category, I'd prefer to only see things like breasts and buttocks. Save the genitalia (even if tasteful, full-body shots) and anuses for the explicit category. That would relieve some poor staff member from making a judgment call on whether a particular genital picture is naughty or nice. You can just make the assessment based on which body part is showing. . On the other hand, what do you then do about something like a picture of a nipple that might have tons of piercings or clothespins clipped to it or being subjected to some kind of S&M thing. That's not exactly "mild." Maybe if there's something explicitly sexual (or violent) happening in the picture, it would go into the third category, too.

I respect your opinion but please don' speak for everybody. The reason they are considering doing this is because there are those who don't mind nudity but don't really like the extreme close up genital shots. This is something that was asked for by *a lot* of people. So yeah, I would say it's needed.

It is rather absurd to me that we need a content filter in regard to nude pictures on a website such as this. Go join EHarmony if nudity offends you. Geez. It has become total overkill with all of this nonsense.

It's all so subjective. I wish there were a "sad" option. It's not the close-ups that bother men, and I actually like some of the hardcore action images. But opening my inbox and encountering a pile of sad, blurry cock shots is just kind of disheartening. So many of them are out of focus, awkwardly angled, surrounded by messy apartments, etc. I've even seen genitalia shots with boxers on the floor, as if the owner was on the toilet taking a dump and he looked down and thought, "hey, I bet this would make a great profile photo for TSdates.com!" Can you filter that out? Because if not then I don't think it matters for me.

This feature will not only NOT be helpful to those of us who dislike dick pictures, it may also be misleading. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I enable the feature, won't it simply gray out someone's profile pictures if they are all dicks? I might think someone interesting has no picture when, in fact, they have a dick picture that is simply grayed out to me. I wouldn't use it because I'd rather know a guy is a dick up front before I waste any time on him.  Elevate me...
