what flavor are *you* in the mood for?
what flavor are *you* in the mood for? *i wish you could have audio on these entries. sigh* one of the things i love about music is the freedom to sing about things that we all think about and for one reason or another don't usually act on. sex has alot of flavors that we don't usually discuss, but there's music for that. sex is: fun (kiss by prince) nice (wonderland by john mayer) sweet (like to get to know you well by howard jones) syrupy sweet (sara smile by daryl hall & john oates) haunting (hollywood by jody quine) obsessive (possession by sarah mclachlan) aggressive (closer by nin) primal (figured you out by nickelback) dangerous (sex type thing by stp) flavors have 'acceptable' code names, too. some are called love or lust, instead of sweet or primal. (these songs are just what those flavors sound like to me, but it's all very subjective. what you hear and what you listen for is all very personal, in my book *s*.) i think we are mostly taught that nice, sweet or syrupy sweet are the only 'acceptable' flavors of sex. you can't even want it any other way. you aren't allowed. it's 'bad'. it's 'wrong'. it's 'dirty'. but the very act of sex, initially, is pretty basic and pretty primal. ppl don't have sex to be nice to each other. *that* flavor of sex comes from being in a relationship and is beautiful and wonderful on its own. ppl have sex with each other first bc they are attracted to another on some primal level. if all goes well (hopefully *s*), they have sex out of attraction *and* well meaning and well feeing for their partner and the relationship. all the other flavors sometimes get sifted out of the relationship, leaving one or both to wonder - what happened??? music is an awesome way to communicate all the different flavors and moods and keep them in the relationship. as with anything, some ppl aren't ok with this. "you can't sing about that!" "you can't say that!" really? why not?? we all feel it / think it at some point about someone. even if it's only passing. even if we keep it to ourselves. (feeling obsessive about someone, for example, -should- be kept to yourself, says me, anyway. ok to think about in passing, -not- ok to act on - Ever.) but some of it's good, right? have you ever felt like literally just, no words, just grabbing someone (presumably not just a random stranger, folks, lol -- that's an entirely different entry -- Focus, ppl, focus! lol) and planting a lusty, greedy kiss on them - just to see what happens? i think alot of ppl think stuff like that. we're just taught it's not ok to think 'impolite thoughts'. what do you guys think? (thank god for my cd player *s*.) figured you out [edit] written by chad krueger & performed by nickelback i like your pants around your feet i like the dirt that's on your knees and i like the way you still say please while you're looking up at me you're like my favorite damn disease and i love the places that we go and i love the people that you know and i love the way you can't say no too many long nights in a row i love the powder on your nose ooooh and now i know who you are it wasn't that hard just to figure you out and now i know who you are it wasn't that hard just to figure you out i like the freckles on your chest and i like the way you like me best and i like the way you're not impressed, while you put me to the test i like the white stains on your dress and i love the way you pass the check and i love the good times that you wreck while you're passed out on the deck i love my hands around your neck and now i know who you are it wasn't that hard just to figure you out and now i know who you are it wasn't that hard just to figure you out i love your pants around your feet and i love the dirt that's on your knees and i like the way you still say please while you're looking up at me you're like my favorite damn disease and i hate the places that we go and i hate the people that you know and i hate the way you can't say no too many long nights in a row i hate the powder on your nose and now i know who you are it wasn't that hard just to figure you out and now i know who you are it wasn't that hard just to figure you out music is what feelings sound like. |

I don't think it's possible to not think impolite thoughts. As you say, when one is attracted to another, initially it is on a primal level. When you bring the syrupy sweet aspect into it, you're really talking about love. Falling in love with somebody is very different than lusting after them. It's an emotion on a very high level. When you see somebody whom you find very attractive, that lower brain kicks in and wants that person. However, your higher brain wants to get to know that person and figure out if they're a suitable mate. We live in a very conservative country. In other countries, it is acceptable to have a lover even though you are married. It is also polite to talk about sex at the dinner table. Also, people have few inhibitions. People are more likely to openly explore their sexuality and fetishes which in this country may be seen as perverse. The beauty of music is that the artists can convey a message through the tone of the music and lyrics. The lyrics for Figured You Out really creates an image of rough, sweaty sex. That can be a real turn on as it hits our primal core. Romance is nice, but every once in awhile you need a good fuck and you don't care if they're a suitable mate.

Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry is another song that puts thoughts in my head. It also has some good lines.

sometimes songs set such great moods..I love to work them into erotica that Ive written... and then there are some songs that most folks dont even catch the lyrics of..but say some amazing stuff... Damien Rice... "There’s still a little bit of your taste in my mouth There’s still a little bit of you laced with my doubt It’s still a little hard to say what's going on There’s still a little bit of your ghost your witness There’s still a little bit of your face i haven't kissed You step a little closer each day That I can´t say what´s going on There’s still a little bit of your song in my ear There’s still a little bit of your words i long to hear You step a little closer to me So close that I can´t see what´s going on" and by Dire Straits... "She gets the sun in the daytime Perfume in the dusk And she comes out in the night time With the honeysuckle musk Because she smells just like a rose And she tastes just like a peach She got me walking where the wildlife goes I'd do anything to reach her And she was made in heaven Heaven's in the world Is this just expresso love You know I'm crazy for the girl She call me just to talk She's my lover she's a friend of mine She says hey mister you wanna take a walk In the wild west end sometime And I get trouble with my breathing She says boys don't know anything But I know what I want I want everything Well I feel so good cos I feel so good And I feel so good cos it feels so right I was made to go with my girl Like a saxophone was made to go with the night And she can raise one eyebrow Put her hand on my hip And I close one eye now Sweat on her lip And I surrender to the fever I surrender to the will of the night She love me so tender I got to believe her Love ? Expresso love's alright"
