A Trail of Chaos, Victims and Anquish Like other Canadians across the country, I cannot fathom the tragedy of Canada’s worst mass shooting that struck the beautiful province of Nova Scotia last weekend. Words do not seem sufficient. My heart and condolences go out to all those directly affected. Life will never be the same.  |

A friend and resident commented, ‘You never want to be part of a news story as it never turns out well. Nova Scotia will be reeling with this for a long time to come.’

Having never fired a gun in my entire life can't wrap my head around senseless violence of any kind. Just mind boggling how anyone can be so evil & twisted.

It is a sad time for all involved. We need to know why but probably never will!

It's especially painful and tragic because it is Canadian and so against the National character. In USA, shootings are barely headlines. Indeed, the big story recently was that March, 2020 was the first March since 2002 (2002!) where USA didn't have a school shooting. Scary.

and for months to come we will sing the name of one sick mind and for months to come we will bring tears to the relatives of one sick mind and for months to come we will light candles sing songs of praise to those that fell at the whim of one sick mind and their names like dust will be lost in the wind and his name will be forever etched in time as one new sick mind prepares to write their name in eternity... .... would it not be a blessing to write the names of all those poor souls in eternity and let the name of one sick mind fall silently for ever in darkness never to be spoken again may g$d fill our hearts with comfort may g$d send peace to those that survived the horror there is a world of difference between insanity and stupidity

It saddened my heart when i heard this....as its not commonplace. We here in the states have become somewhat immune to this kinda news, Its very sad. Its very sad all around. I hope the families get the support they need and can begin the process of healing from this tragedy ~~

Another unnecessary tragedy, my heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones. Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Like many of the others I didn't hear of this. I am so sadden not just for the country but for those shot, and their families. But in Canada? Of all the places I never would of thought there because of the peacefulness nature of the people. All I hear about any more on the news is Covid-19 and I really don't watch the news much right now. We have two lives, and the second begins when we realise we have only one - Confucious

I also do not understand such violence. When a teenager shot random people at a school in Arkansas in the 1990's, my thought was that while he had training to be effective in shooting the rifle, that he had not seen the results of releasing that power on a living creature previously. One article thought it started as he was trying to find a love interest that was no longer interested in him. I wonder if the random stops and "executions" were an effort to sidetrack law enforcement while he escaped. It appears that this was the result of mental health issues that may not have been identified. A sad situation for all.

I grieve for them. All of my family lives there except me. I am sure some were distant relatives. Such a senseless act in such a peaceful place.

Due to the current restrictions imposed because of COVID-19, the community is being denied the opportunity to come together and grieve. Last night, a ‘virtual vigil’ was broadcast on national television. It was poignant and supportive, featuring local musicians. It ended with a lone piper, overlooking the sea, playing Amazing Grace. Nova Scotia Strong...at its finest 🇨🇦
