Mental Illness

There is a large unmet need for mental health counseling. But I am not a therapist nor do I play one on TV. In my profession as an attorney I meet a number of people who are mentally ill. I do my best to avoid them and refuse to take them on as . I learned this lesson the hard way.

My experience is that you always lose when you try to help someone who is mentally ill. No matter how good a job you do they are not happy with the result and will sue you for not doing better. The mentally ill believe they are right and all others are wrong.

My rule is to refuse to get involved with the mentally ill. Sorry, I cannot help you. You need professional assistance from someone trained to deal with insanity. Not me. Good luck to you, elsewhere. Not me. Bye.

Mental illness is more common than many think. My guess is at least 5% of the population are mentally ill or disturbed. Another 5% just have rotten personalities due to trauma, concussions or chronic pain and other problems.

Of course some people are just rats because they like to misbehave.

The Hoarders show is too painful for me to watch as the hoarders are clearly mentally ill and OCD. Seeing one or two episodes is more than enough pain.

Having dealt with it my entire childhood with my mother.... I now make a conscious effort to avoid those people. And, yes, they need help. They just don't see it or want it in many cases.

Many folks are in trouble mentally but most think it is the other guy who is nuts...
