"Two income family"!

"Two income family"! I would say about 29 years ago, not quite 30. I live with 3 women, at different times ofcourse, at the peek of that times I was making $7.00 and hour. At the time they lived with me none of the want to wor Then they realized that I was broke as hell. me and my broke ass! I had one that had a job, since I was working she quit, then we both struggled. One of them left me for, "Drum roll, please"! That right a Sugargaddy"! Sugardaddies, you got to love them! I'm not a hater, if someone going to provide a place and give them money. I tell them, kick it with him. My has a friend who is 36 and a waitress, have 3 a year, a 6 year and 37 year old. Her husband don't work, and she pay all the bills. His excuse is, that he has a criminal record. In the future , no Social security for him. A friend of mines I grew up with, he been maried 40 years. When he propose, she told him, if he promise to take care of her, then her answer is "I do'! He kept his promise, for she never worked. They went from no , an adopted to having their own. One in college and moved out one finishing highschool. Still no 9 to 5 in her plans! No social security for her! She's now 63. I work with a guy who retired too. 5 years ago, he got his wife a job with the company. She really didn't work much and their two daughters are own their own. She told him, 28 years when married her, that when he retire, they moving to West Virginia to be around her family. He retired, they moved back! So after being there for a couple of months, he found a job! So, she told him, since you getting the retiremnet and you found another job, It ain't no need me for me to get a job. So no job for her! She's only 53, ofcourse , you know what happens next. My mom didn't work much, in her later years she got a job. But she had health problem and had to go on disability, this was the mid 70s and she only got $400 a month. When my mom was 62, she couldn't get social security, for she haven't work years. So, my dad was the bread winner. He had a good retirement and his social security was also great! But, the bad thing, he died. They still have the some amount of bills, but she was only allowed to get one of his checks, not both! She was living on half the income they had. No one knew. For she didn't say a word. When I come home to visit, I could tell, that she was stressed. When she died, she owe more on the house than the house was worth. Poor thing, I wish she told us! To all the couple, people that co-habitate, you both need to work! Because if you don't work, and depends on your mate for the income, when they pass, you'll be living in poverty. But if you did work, you would get one of their checks and you'll have your own. To have a good future, there got to be a "Two family income"! If not, the future is going to be rough!         |

Never even crossed my mind for one of us not to work. We were fortunate enough a few times when hubs was laid off that he was able to do the stay at home dad thing and save us some daycare costs, but generally we have both worked the entire 26 years of our marriage.

So sorry to hear that happened to your Mom my friend, I don't know if they had Widow's Pension then or not as she was entitled to half of what your Dad got on Social Security when he died. Well at least that is how it is today. I didn't work much until my first husband got hurt, as he wanted me to stay at home and raise our kids in which I did. Because I didn't work much I don't qualify for Social Security either. But I am entitled to my hubbies Social Security god forbid if something happens to him. You know being a Mother is the hardest job of all and they should make it where all the Mothers can collect Social Security when they are old enough to get it, as you can't put a price on a Mothers love.. I hope you enjoy your Hump Day my friend..

I think it is so important to learn about money, investing, and business. Learning the framework of the system is the only way to become independent of the system. Nice post Scoupe.

Two years retired ; she still works , six years till she can retire We live comfortably on a BUDGET and Not Over or Above Our Means  Biggest Help is that the House is PAID OFF

Even while at home with babies I brought in an income. I taught all my kids that they needed to be able to pay their own way. I don't understand people who never seek to better themselves so they can pay their own way. It took me years of saving and investing but I finally hit a point that even if something happened to Cowboy I will be fine financially. Amen!

Young Man...I have preached on this to any one that will listen, Get a job, work, work every day and if there is overe time work all you can, when you are young It ain't gonna hurt you..Live within your means, if you cant afford it , leave it alone... don't go crazy with credit cards, they will get you in debt before you know it,, Remember you have a household that absolutely has to have a budget.. one that tells you, you Can't spend more than you make... Dont look up at our Government, this is the worse management of money this earth has ever seen, The USA owes More than out kids and grand kids will ever pay off. even if the US of A, last That long,, off my soap box , back to da subject.. If you dont take control of your own destiny by the age of 40 or 45. when you get to a retirement age, you wont have a pot to piss in and no where to throw it if you had.. Think early. keep the thought , look ahead for you. It is NOT going to be easy but it can be done people do it every day.. and we smile.. but it was not give to us..
