A Tuesday Text. A Poem

It's the day of the week
That I can communicate
With my ex FWB.
A day he was unlikely
To be with his new girlfriend.

It's terrible isn't it?
How I can't let go?
He said he wants
To remain my friend.
To be able to chat
But a topic of conversation
I dare not broach
Is he new found love.
Even if that is indeed
The word for it.

I am trying to be honest
I am trying
To understand
What I am feeling
Deep down inside of me

The pain of his rejection
Is it going away?
Am I burying it?
Or am am feeding
False hopes
Of a reconciliation.
It's a case of not
Wanting to let go
Of something that felt
So comfortable
And wonderful.
Even though
I have to...
With a man
Who found me less than his ideal
