As far as I know only one film has been shot here, well a scene from a film. They needed a beach, with a sunset in what was supposed to be a end of the world type film. Our Peninsula fit the bill. Filmed during the winter months the trees bare of leaves the cold wind swept beach worked out well. I can't remember the name of it now, it had a couple of mid level stars in it though.

We often get adverts shot in the small shopping parade in the middle of our road. The last one was in the height of summer for a Christmas advert so they made artificial snow. Luckily they only film for a day as it disrupts all of the car parking. “For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Much like this site Visit my Blog for my adventures.

Some movies and TV series have been filmed in Galt, Ontario. The limestone architecture and the Grand River create very picturesque scenes. Hespeler, Galt, Preston and some surrounding villages amalgamated in 1973 to become the City of Cambridge.

Many movies have been made here in Alberta over time and many are made in B.C. A few examples here are 1. Brokeback Mountain 2. Unforgiven 3. R.V. 4. The first Superman movie with Christopher Reeves 5. The Revenant

I was living in Austin, Texas when they filmed "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas", at that time my sales mangers parents lived next door to Bert Reynolds parents in Fla. At least once a week, a limo would pick him up for lunch with Bert! He did make one appearance there, I was out working of course.... I was selling Kenworth trucks in San Antonio, Texas, which is where I grew up, when they filmed the Selena movie, the young Latino who was shot by her best friend ! Corpus Christi , which was where it happened wanted nothing to do with the filming! Towards the end of the movie they came to our dealership and said a yellow truck tractor, like we had on the lot was in the parking lot where she was shot. I drove the tractor to the motel where they were filming, then 4 days later I went and picked it up! "Everybody" in town was saying they where in the "movie", mostly for the concert scenes, yea, one in thousands...lol! SO...I told everyone I drove a truck in the movie....LMAO! It was in the closing scene about 3 seconds!! Interesting post!

Edinburgh has been a film location a number of times - most familiar would be Trainspotting of course, but that's not surprising as it was set in the city. Glasgow has doubled up as Philadelphia in World War Z a few years ago. I think it's going to be another US city in another forthcoming movie. I like the way Toronto was used as Chicago in Due South.

I can see the attractions that makes your town ideal for making certain movies. We've had several shot throughout Cornwall. More recently for TV series such as Poldark and Broadchurch.

Great post...love movies and always remember seeing them in the small town I grew up it. It was the one thing that everyone would do, probably because it was about the only thing to do in town. But it was special and hard to find that these days.

Has your town become a movie location? Not my town but nearby around Sedona used to have some westerns filmed around the old ranches. There is a popular book sold in the tourist shops here that lists many of them. Broken Arrow w/ James Stewart The Rounders w/ Glenn Ford Stay Away Joe w/ Elvis Presley There were more but I can recall them all. and in the 90s or so Midnight Run w/ Robert Deniro When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Not up on what movies might have been filmed in Flint, Mi, unless one counts Ugh! Michael Moore. My sister-law and brother own a restaurant where a movie with Hugh Jackman was filmed. Some of the town people got to be extras. None of the restaurant scenes made the final movie cut. Everyone there got a thrill. I was not there. The last movie I saw for the first time about a month ago "The Force Awakens" The last time I was in a movie theater was 2017...

Hi Joy. thanks for taking me further with the cinematic history of your town. I live in a dream... so, I'm always starring in a movie with my heavenly creatures... Has your town become a movie location? Dallas has been in several movies... "Robocop" being a memorable one... What was the last movie you watched? The Passenger... reminded me of this... Golden Earring - "Vanilla Queen" Fascinating lady, snowflake in the sun You make me feel so bourgeois Oh, you've captured everyone I hear you've been a dancer At some famous Paris show And million dollar lovers Neatly saw you to your door Nineteen fifty seven, Sweetheart of the year Secret of your beauty, Was your moon-tan and your fear And now you run this city You're still honey to the flies Attract the in-crowd dandies Faraway-look in their eyes You're the bright, nocturnal Vanilla Queen Your mask is sterile dignity Tell me why, nocturnal Vanilla Queen You haunt me, even in my dreams It couldn't be avoided We were bound to meet To leave private messages, please use my confidential mailbox at my blog: Good luck!!!

In Toronto I was running down University because I had gotten off at the wrong subway stop and because I was running late to meet up with my friends. This guy with a big satelite-phone-looking walkie talking comes up to me and says I can't be running here. I think to myself as I'm running, "this sidewalk is a public area. Who is this guy to tell me I can't run down a main street". I continue to run. I hear the guy talkling into his walking talkie. He says, "I've got a jogger coming through"As I am continuing to run I see an upside down police car. I slow my pace and start to look around, trying to figure out why the police car is upside down. I see down the street ahead of me a that the street is fenced off and there are people on the other side of the fence looking over it. I'm on a movie set! Ooops.

I once went to a local premiere showing of a movie filmed at a local historical town, which just happened to be where my grandfather and his family lived in the early 1900s. I've never seen it on tv, and don't know if it was theatrically released. They also shot in the high mountains just North of here, and the skating sequences were at a pond near the highway. One of my daughter's buddies from figure skating doubled for the star, but sadly they misspelled her name in the credits. Look for The Ice Queen, starring Bridget Fonda.
