As a kid, I wanted to be an actor or an F1 racing driver. I acted in school and at Uni and had a walk on part in an Am-dram production on a professional stage. I have driven on the autobahn at well over 100 MPH (faster than my F1 heros of the day!), so I kinda did that. I may treat myself to a track day in a single seater racing car one of these days. I also rather fancied being an author and have more or less done that. In reality, life forced me into a career as a research scientist - bummer, eh?

I wanted to be a medical doctor. Was on waiting list twice for school. Got married and had baby on the way after being married a couple months, so school got put on hold and never made it to med school. Went in coal mine, become a electrical Forman there and left after 4 year and went in financial industry. Was a VP of a large company. Got burned out, moved back to Va. Bought family property and expanded that. Took a position with a oil marketing company and become Regional manger over couple states and continue to raise beef cattle. Do a lot of volunteering and am president of a national organization.

growing up, I wanted to be a RCMP, then a fireman......both careers were shot down when I found out I was color blind.......and wore glasses. Cataract surgery remedied my use for glasses but now I'm too old..

I wanted to be an equine vet or be a professional rider - trainer. Instead I became a nurse and then spent years rescuing horses. It worked best with raising babies

Cool post! I've always been a musician. It's in my blood, and I can't imagine not making music. I remember telling my slutty guidance counselor (another story) in 8th grade that I wanted to play at Carnegie Hall one day. She laughed. Fuck her, I got to play there with our choirs several years ago, as well as playing on stage at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. I've also cleaned offices, bartended, and worked in offices along the way. Have a great day, and be nice to one another.

Funny how certain things bring back old memories. When you started talking about Cheap Trick it reminded me of these two girls from Puerto Rico. I met them while I was in college, they went to another private college in the same city. One of them was a model in Puerto Rico and had posters with her on them hanging around her room. She also was a normal hook up for one of Cheap Tricks band members and that is what reminded me of this memory. This memory is memorable because the other girl was my first ever sexual encounter. She was a wild child to say the least and I was her target. I can still remember that entire night of fun and how large her areola's were. lol

Way early on...a ballerina. First career I was more likely to achieve...architect. I loved the idea of being a part of creating wonderful buildings. Then I found out you have to know much more about ART than I would ever hope to. My physics teacher pointed me to engineering...said I could build great big buildings and bridges. If only I had liked the structural engineering classes I'd taken. Instead...I fell in love with water resources and have spent most of my career dealing with them in one form or another. I made the decision at 15 to become an engineer and I did it...with just a slight shift in focus. Total aside...my grandparents had that game Careers and my sister and I used to play it all the time at their house. LOL

I wanted to be a racehorse jockey. I had to give up that dream around age twelve, when I passed up both the height and weight limits. At that time, a prospective jockey would have been no taller than 5' 3", and weighing no more than 110 pounds. I thank my mostly Irish blood for the height, and also having a hearty appetite. I looked into the prospects of being a hot-walker or exercise rider, but it involved a shit-ton of schooling that I felt unnecessary if all I was going to do was work around and with horses. As an adult, I do see the need in the classes, but as a horse-crazy kid then, I didn't. "Be who you are and say what you feel. Not nearly as much as I used to, or would love to for that matter. We used to own a few horses (though only one at a time) when I was younger. My sister and I had plenty of time available back then to devote to the care and exercise it needed. Then came jobs that needed you to have "complete availability" (i.e. open schedule), which sadly also required you to work weekends, so lack of free time to devote to the horse dwindled. The last horse we owned, we had to sell because of this main reason, not to mention that food and board went up to where it became almost impossible to meet. She was a pretty mare. Mostly Arabian breed, but brown and white tobiano pinto. She was a retired show horse, double registered with the So Cali Half Arabian Club, as well as the Pinto Horse Assoc. of America. Not sure just what awards she had over her lifetime (former owners kept those), and I don't think she had any foals... This is what she looked like before we sold her. She's long since passed now.
