My Changing Concept of Hell
My Changing Concept of Hell When I was younger and attending Catholic School there was a nun who seemed to enjoy scaring us girls with her description of Hell. Hell was a terrible place, according to her, where men and women and even boys and girls are cast for being naughty. To me at the time, being naughty was touching yourself or someone else's private place. I'm sure the nun didn’t know it, but her description of Hell painted a picture in my mind of a room full of naked, naughty people doing naughty things to each other. The more the nun talked about Hell the naughtier the people I pictured got. After a while Hell for me was a room full of naked, sweaty, slippery my age rubbing their bodies against each other and touching each other's private places. By the time I was 12 or 13 the thought of Hell really made me horny. A lot of days after religion class I'd go in bathroom and masturbate. I knew I was going to Hell, especially since I was touching myself at Catholic School. I finally grew out of my fantasy. After all, would God make Hell one big orgy? Everyone would want to go there, right? But sometimes I still dream about a room of naked naughty people touching each other and doing very naughty things. I'm not as naive as I used to be. |

It seems like this is a somewhat revised version of the famous Mark Twain quote; "Heaven for the music. Hell for the company." It seems given the people who were convinced they were going to heaven, he would have much preferred the company in hell. So too you. Funny how some things stick with you from your childhood, unmoored from their origins. So you are looking for Hell on earth? Sounds like an exciting place your hell. Send the coordinates along when you find it.

As a recovering Catholic, I understand what you're saying. I don't know what Hell really looks like but I have to think Hell must involve the absence of all love and compassion. “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” ― Oscar Wilde

I think that description of hell is still taught, however, they now refer to it as the rectory. Cheers!

I had similar thoughts as I sat in church during Mass, but in my young brain, there were different rooms for different sins....there was a room for the killers, another for robbers, and rooms for each sin.....and there was a room full of naked people who had committed a sexual sin.......and they were still sinning in that room The other rooms scared me, but, like you, I'd get aroused by the sex in that room. I guess I had a perverted mind way back then....lol
