How have you been fairing the latest winter storm?

Here in Northern Michigan, we've been pretty lucky with this latest storm. While it has been bitter cold.... We haven't actually gotten all that much snow.

Other areas haven't faired so well...

Hopefully you guys are all out there safe and well and not experiencing the level of damage I'm seeing the news and Faceplace.

Especially you Texans!

Got word from my cousin who lives in Texas yesterday that her pipes froze and broke and she's been without power for 3 days now.

Stay safe!!

Took this pic yesterday morning when I got to work.

Yah, I actually did pull out my big, wooly coat to wear to work yesterday... Before I even saw that meme.

Whoever created it was dead correct.

Happy Thursday!

no bitter cold here in the lower tier of NY
we had a fair share of snow every other day
the ice storm was not bad either it came over night and we warmed up to 38 with sun so I was able to clear the driveway and sun helped.
took a walk in the over grown field with my two dogs ones a springer she had trouble show was deeper then her and the coating of ice didn't help. I called to me told her walk in my tracks and she did. the other is a 3 years old golden longer legs and nothing stops her was we cut the walk short. but when we got back behind the fence they start playing rolling around and sliding down the hill kids being kids.
to me it just another winter we moved up here I cant complain, just deal with it, enjoy it. if I did like it I should have move south. then I can complain about heat bugs and snake hahahahahhaa
This winter has been relatively mild for where I live.... There have been winters where we've gotten many feet of snow and there are winters where it's been below zero for a month at a time. Like you, I can't complain about this winter. The summers here definitely make up for the winters, which is what keeps me here.

We don't get as much snow as we used to down in the far south-west.

This reminds me of the news segment I watched this morning about Ted Cruz taking his family on vacation during all this to get away from the weather. He was NOT looked upon favorably.

I'm glad you're doing ok and haven't lost any heat or power!

I am used to bitter temps and cold... I am from North Dakota. This year has been mellow up until the past few weeks when the sub zero temps set in. Honestly we are between 5 and 8 feet of snow short this year. I am so used to bad winters that I am set up with a lifted 1978 Jeep CJ-7 with wheel wideners and 35 inch tires, a 2000 Jeep Wrangler lifted with wheel wideners (makes the stance wider and less tippy) and 35 inch tires plus I own a tow truck. I have my house ready with a live generator wired in plus I have two snow blowers and an ATV with 60" plow. The only thing I have used this year so far other than the Jeeps and the house generator. They killed our electricity to save electricity for Texas.... Hell we aren't even on the same power grid as Texas !! That was just a burden put on us to kill our power. Glad I am set up with a generator for the house
Holy cow! You're prepared... But it sounds like you need to be. Short 5-8 feet of snow?? Holy shit! How much snow do you normally get?

The cold dry air has made it far enough south of Iowa that we have only had a small amount of snow a few times since the cold settled in. Which means that the people at the south edge of the cold have received the ice/snow.

Cold, but not frigid, and sunny today.
Thankfully it's starting to warm up again here. No sun today, though... I miss the sun.

We've had some of the bitter cold and have set a new record or two for the low temps, but I don't think we set any new records for the snow we've gotten. And thank goodness it's now warming up just a little. We can put the big coats away now!
We didn't get ice with this storm like we did back in October where it ripped the trees apart and left so many (including me) without power for a week or more, so that's a plus.
I only had to wear my big coat 2 days. Thank god because, it is super warm, but it's a pain in the ass to drive in and it's so clunky feeling.

I have had 13 inches of snow fall in my yard in the last two weeks and the temps have been cold and it has been windy here in Michigan.

Most of the winter I go out with a thermal shirt and pants on under my cloths and usually dont wear a jacket but the last 2 weeks, I have had to wear a jacket out.

I have had the furnace turned up just a bit in case I loose power in the night but also have a portable generator and a lot of batteries in the house and a generator in the camper if need be for power.

That is Sad about Texas and the lower states, I just cant believe that they did not plan for such a thing to happen in time.

Cutting corners and not making the natural gas lines safe from the cold was a big mistake, I cant imagine having no gas for heat or power and how long it will take to restore it all down there.

Someone should have been less concerned about saving a buck and more about what could happen .... I am sure they teach p3 there as well.

    Stay safe everyone.
It's definitely not a good time to be without heat and electricity. I've been watching it on the news and have a few friends posting on Facebook about it and it's heartbreaking.

I saw a guy walking down the road yesterday without a winter coat on, wearing only a hoodie sweatshirt. I was VERY tempted to turn around and ask him if he needed a coat to wear. It was so cold, and I just felt like he was in need. My son has a few that are just hanging in my closet unworn. When I looked in my rear view mirror, he was headed up the driveway into the gas station, so I did not turn around. I still feel like I should have.

Humans are the most dangerous animals on earth.

If only animals had the ability to know when to keep away from us humans they would be better off.

- 13 Ouch We have had the minus with the wind chill factors but only barely hitting negative for actual temps. We have been digging out from the one storm and getting another couple of inches outside now.
Sorry to hear about your cousin in Texas. I always thought the rolling blackouts were so every body could have a little heat and light. Some of the pictures on the news last night was very bad.

Ya need good winter tires, then driving in a snow storm becomes fun as opposed to frightening.
Have a good one. ❗❗😎
