When did I become so.... Social??

I went to a coworker's birthday get together Monday night, after work.

Not a big deal, just a few people hanging out, eating pizza and drinking beer.....

Now I'm suddenly invited to a surprise birthday get together for another coworker on Friday night as well.

It's like an alternate universe!

Y'all know how much I 'love' hanging out with the work peeps after work....

Not!

I can't say no, now. I've already been to one, now I 'have' to go to the other!

It's just *so* much fun always being the single one in the group. No built in conversation partner to mingle through the group with.

When you're single, you're flying solo!

My plan is to make a quick appearance, wish the birthday girl a happy birthday, and escape unnoticed.

Wish me luck!

Young Lady, been there done that, make it early and loud, get a free drink and slowly work your way quietly out and back home... It is normal for these thoughts, you have. Dont think twice about it . Do and be done...
Luck was in my favor as the party was kind of rained out. I can go back to my ways of avoiding the work peeps while not at work once again!

I found in the past, once you attend a co-workers party, they invite you to all co-worker parties. That is one of the reasons I refuse to attend any party hosted by or for a co-worker.

I will not mix my work life and my social life. It keeps me at peace that way.
I ended up not going.... It rained off and on all day and the party was an outdoor party so I used the weather as an excuse. Several other people did as well so I didn't feel quite so terrible.

I'm totally using her as an out! I'm dragging her along just because I know she'll be bored as hell within 10 minutes and everyone will visibly see it. That way, when I say "I'm going to have to leave" they'll be like, yep! LOL

I avoid functions with work peeps whenever possible.... The problem is people just can't leave work at work. The last thing I want to do on my own time is answer work questions and have people tell me "Can you look into this tomorrow when we're at work??"

yea, good luck with that. not spending my hard earned friday night with coworkers. sorry, not sorry.

it'd be more like "sorry, i couldn't make it. yea, you get everything you wanted? you had fun though, right?" answer a question with another question and keep it movin'.
I thought about doing all that, actually.... but decided to just go. I'm definitely not staying long, and I'm thinking of dragging the Spawn along with me for excuse purposes. She'll be bored, and itching to go within an hour.

You may be right... I certainly won't be thinking about Boot Camp Boy and crucible if I'm focused on my social anxieties. I was a bit of a wreck all day at work today because of it....

So that's the secret... Be a big enough nuisance that nobody wants you around. I can absolutely do that!

I'm out on Saturday night celebrating my brother's 65th Birthday (even though his birthday was on the 19th). It'll be just myself and four siblings and I'm okay with that.

You can't stay long at all.
Did you forget that you have to pick up your kid at his/her friend's house that evening?
