Life's "But's"

This will be reposted in my initial comment in case of missing words:

Since closing my business a little over a year ago, my life has seen many changes. Mostly good, but a lot of unexpected but's. I'll post it in a list of positive and negatives:

Positive: I took a job with a rather large company hoping for long term employment.
Negative: To get anywhere you need to "know someone". I didn't.

Positive: I had a regular paycheck which allowed be to make a budget for the 1st time in 22 years.
Negative: I made so little I was struggling week to week.

Positive: I applied for so many different dept jobs the people who worked at the recruiting office knew me .
Negative: There was always someone more qualified for every position.

Positive: 3 weeks ago, my foreman, noticing my drive to climb the ladder offered me a crew leader position at my own location. A 2 position jump from grunt, passing over "assistant", to crew leader. I didn't have an assigned assistant so I would have to temporarily pick up the slack.
Negative: I got my new assistant last Thursday and he has 3 years more experience than me, plus he's arrogant as hell, AND he's a talker. I mean, he won't shut up.

Positive: I went from p.a.y. grade 1 to p.a.y. grade 4.
Negative: Nobody can or will tell me what I will be making. I know the low range and the high range, but I keep hearing, "You'll see it on your next check".

Positive: My truck blew up, which is a positive, because I found a 2008 Jeep Liberty with A/C!!!!!!
Negative: The A/C quit after the 1st month. Another , windows down, summer.

Positive: I started my week of vacation Saturday, my 1st in 8 years, my 1st p.a.i.d. vacation in 25 years. I had planned a week of nothing but wearing shorts, not braiding my hair, and being stone from sun up to sun down. A week of total "slumming".
Negative: Saturday morning my grand d.a.u.g.h.t.e.r informed me they were going to be with me the whole week because the other grand parents are going on vacation. My week will be spent washing dishes and yelling at them to pick up their crap.

I suppose all in all I should see the good things and ignore those negatives, but I'd really like to have something "good" without the "but".

I don't see any missing words so I'm gonna leave it at that. Here's the Jeep:

Welcome to the world of being a corporate employee - it can be nice/suck.
How do you like the Jeep?

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Love the Jeep! Almost 7 years ago I bought a Jeep Liberty (2003) and the first summer the a/c quit. lol Cost me a bunch of money to fix.
Welcome to the world of being a corporate employee. The place I work, I've got tons of experience and they pay me like it's 1995. "The more you know, the more valuable you are" What they don't tell you is they're going to take advantage of that knowledge but not pay shit for it. lol

Hmmmm....I know I left that wand around here somewhere!

I was buying wheels the other day at one of those places that take brand new trucks and four wheelers and install all the suspension stuff that should have come with their original $65,000 price tag.

I hear this guy on the phone talking to someone about all the finer points of four wheeling and why he should consider two extra nitrogen gas filled" trail savage"
shock absorbers on every corner of his two story tall ford truck if he is traversing mostly granite. I was biting tongue from laughing out loud then he said something that took me most of the day to figure out what he meant.
He said,Ya!I finally sold mine. You know what they say Just Empty Every Pocket! I was just getting rims for a volkswagen.

Using more than all the road!

I love it. I know what's wrong with the A/C, too. I have to call a company in California tomorrow and see if they'll warranty their work, an electrical glitch common in Chrysler products. That's my next post.

It has an electrical glitch common in Chrysler products but it was previously fixed and should be under warranty, I'll find out tomorrow. Isn't it always time for a joint?

This company considers itself "private sector" and doesn't give raises. You only get a pay increase if you change positions or the budget allows for an across the board percentage increase. If I hit the upper end of pay grade 4 I will be quite content and only need about 10 yrs before I wanna retire.

I had Roy Clark and an old episode of Hee Haw running through my head while I was reading! "That's good! No that's bad."

Hope they get your A/C back soon!!!

A lot of ups and downs... if you were on top of a naked lady , I'd say that would be a good thing! 🤔
What's that thing about no A/C?
Now... THAT one is slightly fucked! Yep. I hear ya... 😶

The electrical glitch that's keeping the air compressor from engaging could be related to the fuse panel. I'll be calling the company that repaired it in February, today to see if they'll warranty it. I really wanted a car with A/C.

The A/C thing is gonna be my next post, I'll be calling the company that did the last repair on my fuse panel.

Silver linings! I live for those lately.

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

I agree, but I'd rather have them with a messy house than not have them at all.

I like it enough that after I pay it off I wanna get a real Jeep with 4WD, not that I like to go off road that much, but when I go to the beach I like to go TO the beach. I don't like trying to carry shit across hot, soft sand. My 1st answer wasn't allowed for the use of one word: h.a.t.e.

Wow.... and us sheep wonder how it is to be self employed.
A little secret... do a self employed thing on the side to help out.
Good luck!

Oh, I have no desire to ever be self employed, again. I'm looking forward to simplified taxes and leaving work behind at the end of the day.

Nonstop talkers are the worst! Especially the know-it-all ones.

Wishing you lots of forbearance. Just remind yourself you're the crew leader.
