Since Monday the Water Authority has been here working on the water pipes. They've dug three holes so far, made repairs and filled the holes back in and yes, they'll be back again today. The holes ( two ) they dug yesterday in front of my building you could have parked a small car in. The hard part about all this? No water all day long ( they'll usually finish up around five in the evening. ) Now it's cool and all that they get things up and running just when people are getting home from work, and will be needing water to cook, etc. But I need water to do the majority of my jobs around here. Like have you ever tried to clean something with out using water? Kind of hard to do really. But hey, the job needed done, the last time any of those pipes saw the light of day is when they were put in, about a hundred years ago now. That's a guess on my part, as most of the buildings we have are at least that age, bound to be the pipes supplying the place are as old if not older? Oh and in case you were wondering? Nope i didn't stand around all day watching the guys. No point to really, I mean it's December. Cold as a witches tit in a brass bra outside. So no hunky guys walking around all day with their shirts off getting all sweaty. Most of the time if the work wasn't going on ( digging etc. ) they were in their trucks with the motors running.. trying to keep warm.

What I did do was clear out another unit, packed up someone else's belongings in contractor bags in case they come back for them. ( they never do ) The tenant's hadn't been in the place long, so it's in not that bad of a condition. Aside from the mess. His stuff tossed in a corner thrown there I assume by an angry spouse? Her stuff picked through and looking like she took what she wanted, leaving the stuff she didn't. Kids toys strewn about, along with their clothing as well. The reason they left...divorce. It happens. Going through peoples stuff you find out a lot about them. Quite frankly I don't think the pair were well suited to each other? Judging from the stuff he left, and what she left. I did feel bad about the kids though..this close to Christmas. Their parents splitting, having to move out of a place they come to think of as home. It's got to be a bummer for them.

I didn't get to the shopping last night. daughter never showed up. Probably zonked out after putting the Grands to bed. Or more the case watching the Voice and forgot she was giving me a ride to the store. No matter, not like the store won't be there today, or tomorrow for that matter.

Any who, I'm off to shower before they turn the water off again.

I will stay put for days when the electricity goes off. If the water is non functioning, I am outta here! I have a fondness for flush toilets.
