Something of a tradition in my home around Thanksgiving. None of my Minions or me care too much for Pumpkin Pie. They turn there noses up at Mincemeat pies, ( I keep telling them there is no meat in them, but they just can't get over the name ) and apple is so hum-drum we go for the Elderberry. Oh, I'll eat a slice of Pumpkin if that's all that's on the menu. But for pies it's my least favorite. This time of year you can't turn a corner in the supermarket with out seeing something with pumpkin or pumpkin flavoring in it. Yeah, I won't be buying the stuff. For some reason I woke up with Pie on the brain this morning. A simple case of not having any in some time I suppose? ( yeah, I'm not talking about the kind you bake in an oven either ) I also blame my wants on it getting colder out lately. For some reason I always get hornier in the colder weather. I've been that way for as long as I can remember. The whole snuggling under the blankets with a lover to keep warm I guess? Then once warmed up....well you know how that goes. Nothing better than making love in the winter, At least that's how I feel. The snow softly falling outside the bedroom window, a chill in the air...and the pair of us sweating like it's summer still. No doubt about it...I need someone warm and soft in my bed....soon. If any of you ladies need a cuddle buddy ( with perks ) let me know.

Mincemeat came about during the 12th century as a way to preserve (finely chopped) meat (hence, its name) without salt or smoking—instead, they used sugar (or honey/maple syrup), alcohol/vinegars, and East Asian spices that returning Crusaders brought back to England (including cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves) to do the trick. These spices possess properties that inhibit the growth of microorganisms, thus allowing the treated meat, most typically beef or mutton, to be preserved for months on end. By the 20th century, beef suet—the raw fat located around the kidneys or joints of a cow—replaced meat as the primary ingredient in mincemeat. As the recipe has progressed closer and closer to present day, the vinegars and wines have been swapped out for liquors (like brandy or rum), and the meat/suet has been swapped out for fruits (like apples, raisins, currants, or candied citrus). My Mom always made mincemeat pies and tarts during the holiday season. I actually made mincemeat tarts last season for the first time [image]

My family loves pumpkin pie. And dark chocolate pumpkin bread, iced pumpkin cookies, etc. The holiday favorite may be pecan pie. I'm a cake eater to be honest. Fruit pies are delicious
