I'm a light sleeper and hate when I'm just about asleep and then my body goes "JUMP" and I'm awake again.

I like to make lists so that my mind doesn't need to hold on to items when it is sleepy time.

Well THAT Is Twisted

I understand what you mean ; I get that same jolt sometimes. Yeah... it's not fun.
I don't have advice except to parrot what others say; meditation, yoga, exercise.
The usual ones. They work for me; or at least they take my mind off what's REALLY bugging me.
A companion, a friend, someone to talk with — would REALLY help you. 👍

Dealing with anxiety of any kind is difficult no matter who you are. Crash bang wallop sounds never seem to get noticed much when we are younger, strange how later in life these get so annoying to the point of being painful. No need for you to apologise for blogging about something other than what most folks on this site are here for. Many like myself enjoy reading what others have to say about any subject, would be terribly boring if folks here only talked about sex that's for sure.

I hear you.. and I also at times have heightened sense of the noise around me, as you say the AC, the fridg, just any normal noise that would not normally be noticed... I try to lay down even when tired and can't make my mind stop, it races around about the days events and of what is tomorrow going to be, I try melatonin, suppose to help but on those evenings when my mind goes amuk, nothing seems to help and then at 3 or 4 AM finally fall to sleep just to awake up at 7 AM right on time!!!!

This is your space, you do as you want.......

Are you able to go to a park and walk? I know that it has been hot, and then the air quality was poor do to the western wildfires, but if you can be out in nature and exercise, you might be surprised at the difference. The exercise should help you sleep and getting away from all the noises in the house should help with your anxiety.

It's your blog, use it for what ever you like. My blog is about a lot of different things. I have not been able to get a goodnight sleep in a lot of years and my mind seems to stay awake when I go to bed. At all hours of the early morning hours I am awake and can not get back to sleep. I deal with depression and other metal illness and it's not easy for sure. I had anxiety problems for a lot of years and I was on medications for a long time and after left my ex fiance my anxiety started to get a little better so I no longer after 2 years when we split in 2016 had to take my anxiety medicine so mine was a lot to do with who I was with. Keep your head up and you're in my prayers

I understand anxiety and depression well. I’ve struggled with both for many years. Lately the depression has deepened. I feel for you.

Hi. All emotions are the result of triggers of minute amounts of hormonal releases and once released they have massive effects on the body. They have to be so effective.
Eg Adrenaline acts more or less immediately.
Anxiety/depression are similar in their action and are the result of signals sent by the brain in response to stimuli it receives sights sounds thoughts etc.
Without boring you and everyone on here and sounding like a know it all, the advice I can offer echoes that of others above,. Change your environment meaning get out and do something different. Look at new things and see and observe things of interest be it nature, scenery , sexy men like me ( joke! ) anything that stimulates the brain into receiving new information to respond to. Exercise is great as it raises heart rate and pumps blood faster causing other metabolic changes.. In summary something has triggered this episode of anxiety. Either you know what it is or you don't. The important thing is you recognize it. The next step is knowing how to get out of it.. I thought if you understand how it hapoens you may be able to find your way out. Hope this helps you or anyone else.. Im happy to talk further if you or anyone needs help on serious issues like this. I'm happy that you felt comfortable enough to talk about it. That is the biggest step of all. As I say I am happy to help. We all have to look out for each other especially after this last period of our lives.

Been dealing with anxiety for years after a childhood closed head injury. Medications do help but some quiet meditation helps retrain the brain to control some of those thoughts.
