If you live long enough

Very rambling stream of consciousness here, nothing coherent.

I still remember being in my thirties, and I'd be chatting with some girl, maybe a . Eventually she'd become genuinely interested in me, and ask my age.

"You're OLD!" she'd exclaim. So funny that perception at different ages.

So odd how the sense of taste evolves from childhood. Not that I dislike what I enjoyed then but rather that I learned to like what I then hated.

And now, in the period of decline, an accelerating sense of irritation.

One of the first hints was, I don't know....maybe five, ten years ago. I noticed I'd set up things socially, with either gender, but something became noticeable related to age. The younger persons would often break commitments / plans, even just not show up......and they had no guilt about this, as if it were a normal way to behave.

I found out that their way of life was to say "yes" to have a dozen people for the same time slot in the future.......then on that evening, they would pick one and blow off all the rest.

I was always short tempered, but I'm becoming "Get off my lawn you goddamn ". In the punk rock days I didn't care, but now piercings and tattoos annoy me and gross me out.......it aches to see a beautiful girl mark up her body as if it were a doodle pad.

The concept of valuable has become corrupted. People think that being unique is enough to give them value. It doesn't.

I have an overwhelming sense that now there is change for no reason at all. Windows 7 worked perfectly fine, no reason for the shitty Windows 10, with it's Fischer Price style interface.

I look at people's YouTube videos and it seems as if so many people are speaking at such an unnecessarily rapid pace, the speed of speech has accelerated to no purpose I can perceive.

I used to have long voice call conversations with people, even long email pen pal style conversations.......that seems to be vanishing......all just texting now.

There is this rudeness everywhere. Having something to say, being articulate, has become somehow a bad thing. No one invests time or effort in anyone else.

I don't think the are actually more busy than I was at that age. More shallow now? I don't know. More distractions now perhaps.......but with such a life full of things, why are they all so vapid, such airheads.

Websites now seem both crowded and empty. They yell ten things in my face, with little clue how to intuitively find what you need. Interfaces have become just a shitty hunting game.

Typing with your thumbs. Jesus christ. Spelling, grammar, manners.....all vanishing.

My only point, if there is one, is that this surprises me, the disconcerting changes that tell me my expiration date is past, I am obsolete.

I wouldn't mind so much if I thought there were any improvements being made.

A memory......a woman I was dating asked me to come help out backstage at a play she was in. After, she and I went with half a dozen people to a coffee shop to chat.

I guess I was in my forties, and the were maybe from 19 to 22. I was listening instead of talking and various topics came up. I was finally asked my opinion, and the were visibly surprised at my answers.....they clearly thought I was cool.....interesting how cool has stayed a term.

One of them excitedly asked me "What music do you listen to?"
The way he asked it, his look and tone, creeped me out.

This was said as if he were asking "Who do you vote for" or "What church do you go to".

This based his values and divided up the world according to which Nursery Rhymes people like best? Jesus fucking christ. If it was catchy, he believed in it.

Now music can have a philosophy, but in and of itself, it isn't a substitute for a philosophy.

supposedly, studies show that the brain isn't fully developed until as late as age 25.

I read an interesting book that floated this idea: An Age of Consent test.

I've met a 11 year old girl whom I would trust to drink alcohol and carry a handgun......and plenty of fortysomething women who never should be allowed to drive a vehicle.

Chronological age is a shitty measure of how responsible and reliable a person will be. Drive at 16. Vote at 18. Drink at 21. It's arbitrary and absurd.
And, some US states have surprisingly young ages for sexual consent.

But...why NOT just issue a test of competence, and regardless of age, the person can engage in certain activities. Conversely, in the case of incompetence, why not restrict activity, regardless of age?

Parenting is perhaps the most serious task in life, yet any moron is allowed to breed, and that's absurd.

I'm no fan of government in any form, but it's an interesting concept.

To drive a car, you must pass a test and have a license. To have a handgun, similar. Why do we regulate? Potential for harm. Not that this works, but the principle is what I'm pointing out.

So, what is the most potentially harmful thing? Having a . Not only can you fuck them up, but put a burden on society and the planet.

Why not a test, make having a a privilege, not a right.

What is, after all, the point of human life? Where exactly are we going with all this? We acknowledge evolution, and we have the tools to guide it, so why aren't we using them?

Simply breed out bad traits. You have bad eyesight? No breeding license for you. You have a valuable trait? Extra breeding credits for you.

Every human foible and frailty could be gradually eliminated, every virtue cultivated.

Some interesting thoughts but I'm picking just one to comment about...

"But...why NOT just issue a test of competence, and regardless of age, the person can engage in certain activities. Conversely, in the case of incompetence, why not restrict activity, regardless of age?"

Who determines the competency of the person/group creating the competency test?

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

superbjversion2 your implication appears to be that a judge must be itself flawless, a fallacy.

Accuracy arrives from an aggregate, often collected by the incompetent and refined by OBJECTIVE reality, scientific evidence.

The testers do not have to be competent. They only need to know what flaws they wish to winnow out, and what virtues they wish to breed in.

Where will it stop? Who will make the decisions?

Humans are the most dangerous animals on earth.

If only animals had the ability to know when to keep away from us humans they would be better off.

Brownie, even though you don't deserve it, here is a gift:

Brownie, may we hear your proposition?
Oh, that's right. You don't have one.

Since it evidently needs to be said, this is run by Objective principles, not by personalities, not by popularity, as the PC police and Trump morons want it to be.

Democracy will always fail, because the majority are literally and factually and statistically worthless scum morons.

This is choosing, deliberately, to evolve.
What a surprise you don't understand.

It would NOT stop, ever, since evolution is perpetual.

Who will decide?

What rational person does NOT want healthier, stronger, smarter generations to follow, at any cost?

The world has a long history of irrationally wiping out entire nations, races and peoples, with illogical criteria.

Time for better criteria.

Put more simply: almost any rational, logical, scientific rule will produce far better breeding results than the current chaos of mongrel disease we have today.
