When did "Having sex" or "hooking up" Replace "Making Love"?!!

I guess I'm a dinosaur.
IMHO; Physical intimacy should be reserved for people who have an emotional connection with each other. Anything else seems animalistic to me.
Qualifier- I understand there are times when one needs to "just get their rocks off" (for lack of a better term). But even then, I want that to be with someone I have a loving committed relationship with.
Even when I watch erotic videos I want to see some substance to the relationship.

I guess that's why, even in my younger years, I was never able to "connect" with anyone at social gatherings.
