Men dating over 50

Use a good online dating service. Again, look for women your own age and contact them. Make a coffee date and actually show up. Meeting for coffee doesn't mean you have to marry your date. Also, don't be too picky. Don't look for a duplicate of your wife, or the exact opposite of your wife. Don't look at the pictures too closely. Remember not every beauty takes a good picture. Many models are not particularly attractive in real life – they just photograph well. Also, beware of those sexy studio pictures. They are done with LOTS of makeup and photo enhancements. And don't be afraid to contact the women who appear out of your league. Chances are, all the other men are afraid of rejection too.

single women over 50 are in excellent shape, know how to dress appropriately, make a good impression on the people they meet, are independent, and usually don't look to a man to solve all their problems.

Really now?? I have come across a majority of women on this site that are exactly the opposite of your post! That isn't to say none meet that description. A few really do!
Now about men looking for women their own age--hmm this site is loaded with both men and women looking for younger. Some times much younger. I do agree that if we all look for younger that no one will find anyone!

Ask your friends' wives to introduce you to women. Don't ask the husbands. They will forget or won't want to get involved. Wives always have a bunch of worthy single female friends and are happy to set up a comfortable meeting. Also, women often are better judges of who would provide a good relationship than you are.

Look in the supermarket, the bookstore, Starbucks, festivals, flea markets ... you get the picture. Anywhere you see a woman you find attractive. Don't be afraid to say the perfect pick-up line: "Hello. I think you are pretty. Are you single? Care to have coffee with me?" Be polite, confident and not sexy or defensive

A lot of clichés here. Personally, I think the best approach to all this is to be yourself, be honest and open to the possibilities.....simple as that.....

Women of your own age, however, are not high-maintenance and are past the stage of creating drama out of everything. They understand you and you will understand them. You will have things in common – like arthritis, and an interest in the economy or politics. Best of all, they are modern and often look far younger than you think they actually are

Mr. GOOOdbuddy,

"Use a good online dating service. Again, look for women your own age and contact them. Make a coffee date and actually show up. Meeting for coffee doesn't mean you have to marry your date. One can use every good online dating site and still not find a woman. Heck MOST (not all) women in my age range are looking for younger men, and let it be known in their profiles.

It is all well and good to make a coffee date and show up, but when the woman you ask out doesn't show, you wasted your time.

As for marriage, I am not looking for that and most women in my age range are not looking for that either.

Now being picky is something everyone does. In fact there has to be something that each person meeting finds attractive about the other. I am not saying that looks are the only thing, but they play a role in deciding to meet.

As for dating out of your league, that just does not happen as often as people think. Any woman that is very attractive, is less likely to date a man that is out of shape. They want someone that can keep up with them, because chances are they spend a lot of time exercising. As for the rejection factor, most men over 50 are very use to that.

The one thing you failed to mention was dating within the same social and economic circles. A woman over 50 that is from a higher social circle is use to certain things. She is use to going to social events, the ballet, opera, plays, and charity events. She is less likely to date a man that can not provide that life that she is accustom to. After all she does not want a man that she has to support, any more than a man wants a woman he has to support.

Dating after 50 for most is fought with pitfalls, and a lot harder than most think. There are aspects of having to deal with work hours, family care, sometimes children, and knowing what the other wants physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.

What you posted is a good starting point, but it is just that, a starting point.
