PSA Where reality and fantasy collide - staying anonymous on the site

If you are worried about the real world finding out you are on here , here are a few hints.

1. Dont post a picture of your face
2. Dont provide your - first or last
3. Dont talk about where you live
4. Be careful you do trust with your personal information

I know it shouldnt have to be said but apparently some people arent aware of these simple basic rules. Perhaps if I had shared this earlier they wouldnt have been blackmailed hereby a friend of their 's last summer saw their pictures and perhaps their activity would not show up on facey place.

Providing those few details can allow someone find you on facey place and find a whole slew of information about you. I wont even get into what happens on facey when you have not secured your profile.

yip I agree had that happen once 10 yrs ago and then people started mentioning me on other date sites that I wasn't on and boy was that a hassle and pain in the ass to get that all straighten and finding that person and shutting him down as he played me as if he was a woman and ended up being a guy and he was good so if gals ask for face pics I take my time because its hard to trust anyone nowadays

That's EXCELLENT advice! Many people here are vulnerable and don't know how to protect themselves... 👍😊

and then...

There are others who really couldn't, give a fuck. You know what I mean? 😎

Great advice, but seems some don't follow that and then wonder why bad stuff happens, and issues arise online and real life. You can't help some people unfortunately

In my opinion it's best to assume that this site will be hacked, you will be identified and all your information will be available online.

It's now possible to use computers to analyse your writing style and identify you.

If someone trys to blackmail you I recommend taking all the evidence to the appropriate law enforcement in your area.

Following my advice may cause injury, insanity, financial loss, hemorrhoids, death and superpowers

Frankly, as the old saying goes, locks only keep honest people honest.
If a person WANTS to know about you, and has the time money & knowledge, they can learn about you via your ISP even if you have a blank profile, especially HERE, as A F F has all your personal details on its server, which has been hacked numerous times (yeah, they dont tell us users about THAT!!)
And heaven forbid if you use FaceBook, they SELL your infor that they collect on you, and now even admit they do ! As does BTW, your states DMV, whether you have a license or just an ID card, and well, all those credit card companies, and the companies you BUY things from WITH you credit card, do the same thing too!
And then there are those credit 'FIX' companies, yeah they are "FREE" but you know why?? Cuz even if you dont use their services, they SELL all the info you so willingly give them in hopes of reducing your debt, to the very creditors you wish to avoid !!
You cannot hide unless you stay off the 'net & the 'grid" and dont do anything except with cash (getting harder every day) and you never travel except by foot (even bicycles need licenses) .
Face it, your life is an open book, and you didnt even know it had even been opened!!

Some people are very blasé about personal security on this site - some are happy to repeatedly broadcast their first name, the town they live in, the job they do, the times they are doing that job, siblings' names, etc.

And then they wonder why they have picked up a stalker or had their identity stolen.

I'll share a personal story..

I have been here for a few years now and I do protect myself online here with the majority of the population here.

I was chatting privately with a local woman a couple of years ago. When we finally got to the point to share some pics. We both had this feeling that we knew each other before. Yadda Yadda Yadda, we kept chatting and we grew up in the same area of town, then it dawned on both of us that we knew each other..

30+ years before, she sat behind me in Freshman Algebra in high school.
We both gasped, but after a couple of days, we both realized that we were both on the same site looking for the same thing.

For the most part, I do not act like a horn dog, so if anyone does find me here, they won't have much to blackmail me with..

I am always surprised at what people post then get upset when it bites them.

Good advice and also, if you cam, don't show your face....the image can be scrapped and without your knowledge, you become a porn star ~~

keep your window shades closed..you never know who may be peeking in ~

I would never share my Facebook name with anyone on here. If you do you are allowing the person to see you in both worlds. It’s your own dick move that got you in that pickle. I tell my kids all the time that you can’t complain if you did something stupid cause you stupid.

Great advice, especially in the crazy world we live these days. I don't use the facey place myself but that wouldn't stop someone hell bent on causing trouble.

I had posted pics on here that were stolen and used on other profiles. Just try to get them back or even prove they were yours to begin with.

I've come across at least two local profiles with face pics that I could identify.

One is a man I met from a mainstream dating site. As there was no chemistry we didn't take it further. Fortunately I used a disposable phone number so even if he recognizes me here it shouldn't out me.

The other person is a sales lady at a department store I immediately recognized as being a member here, due to her multiple face pics. i was conflicted about writing her a message alerting her to the fact she is easily identifiable in the physical world. I've read stories here about women being accosted by a stranger with rude questions along the lines of "Are you xxx from TSdates.com?" I didn't inform her, so I hope she doesn't have any unfortunate encounters like that.

Why in the world would any sensible woman think that just hiding their face, where they live and their name is going to keep bad people away. Not to mention making themselves even more vulnerable with some of the things they've written in their profiles? Wouldn't it be much safer and less stress induced not to even put themselves through all of this.It seems I've heard more than a couple of dozen times in the heat of arguments with entitled suitors that sex is available to them any time ,place or person.Which on it's own makes people wonder what people are really doing here!

Using more than all the road!
