I agree he was probably the best drummer ever but other than that I think he was with a sucky band

You knew he was a phenom because Rush would always emphasize his drumming above the other instruments. It is a devastating loss

To quote the GREAT drummer's lyrics- "... when I heard that he was gone I felt a shadow cross my heart" ...

Another musical hero gone, but NEVER forgotten- the music lives on!

This news sucks, he was perhaps the greatest drummer there ever was. Rush was always one of my favourite bands, he'll be missed terribly. RIP Neil Peart. I have to go and cry now.

That is a shame. My 2nd wife and I saw Rush many times in concert and loved their music.

Hi Joy

thanks for taking me further with the loss of Neil Peart

sad, sad, sad

my fave by "Rush" is this one

Rush - "Working man"

Well, I get up at seven, yeah
And I go to work at nine
I got no time for livin'
Yes, I'm workin' all the time
It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess that's why they call me
They call me the workin' man
They call me the workin' man
I guess that's what I am

Rush? Me play? 🤔
lol 😂... in my dreams with an air drum stick.
I managed one out of every five or ten of his riffs. Then again... I didn't have his set.
Nope. Never even TRIED to play RUSH.
Except in my sound room with the speakers blasting. I could never keep up. But... it was a blast to try.
I'm going to miss him. I got my ROTO toms because of him. Lol 😂
Hey... I tried. ❤️

Yeah, I saw the news via post on FB the other night. That would explain one of the cited "heath reasons" why the band officially retired three years ago. Makes sense to me.

I never heard any announcement of Neil having cancer, but did watch a documentary on the band on HBO/Showtime/wherever. It's called "Rush: Time Stands Still", if you haven't heard/seen it. It airs every now and then here on US channels. You might be able to find a DVD of it somewhere.

Anyway, I know the documentary talks about Alex developing arthritis in his hands and wrists that would debilitate him being able to play guitar eventually; that is what I thought might be the health reasons spoken of.

I didn't get into Rush until I heard "Subdivisions" song, though a lot of my school mates and close friends were into their music. The band grew on me later in life, and when I did get a chance to see a video of them playing, Neil's skills as a drummer blew my mind.

Rest well, good sir. Thanks for the music, and Roll the Bones!

Yes indeed, that was a shock even though he had brain cancer. R.I.P. Neal Peart
