Being Vulnerable Is NOT A Weakness

Allowing yourself to be vulnerable can be scary. But, it’s also a powerful and authentic way to live. It takes strength and bravery.

Being vulnerable means being honest about how you feel. It’s about opening yourself up to someone, letting that person into your world

Being vulnerable involves uncertainty, risk and emotional exposure.

Vulnerability is often seen as a weakness. Deciding to put yourself 'out there' is the opposite of being weak.

I am sharing this as a reminder to everyone that every time you allow yourself to be vulnerable, you actually empower yourself.

I do think some people aren't deserving of this, so am extremely cautious. For those that I do allow myself to be vulnerable to. When it does happen, it's a most incredible state of mind. Thank you for sharing ... hope all is well ...

A great post this morning as it's so true we must allow our selves to be vulnerable at times so we can grow and enjoy life and make it all it can be. I honestly don't have time to be vulnerable as I am always taking care of everyone else.

I hope your enjoying your Sunday..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

I'm okay showing vulnerability. We're probably all more vulnerable than we think!

Opening up to feeling vulnerable is only authentic and meaningful when it's our choice to do so.

I don't seek approval and acceptance from any tribe. When I do so, I don't care about the consequences or give into worrying about how others view me. I stay away from popular cult conformity; my lack of an inner monologue keeps me focused on being genuine all the time.

When I share my vulnerability β€” an opinion, feelings, a story β€” with anyone, I do so without expecting any specific outcome or goal. I offer people the truest view of who I am β€” I don't have the patience or time to pretend or give a fuck.

If they accept me, cool. If they don't β€” that's also cool. 😎 ❗ ❗

Knowing ones vulnerabilities and opening oneself up to others with them can be a risky undertaking. I have a tendency to read the room....take in the mood and then choose to share...or not. I think that in this patriarchal world its simpler for males to undertake the effort.....the machismo takes over and they dont show the feelings of being taken in the same manner as females, its how we are socialized to the world. I agree tho, i think to be aware of how we function and what our triggers are is definitely a strength. ~

I open up about my life once in a blog here and it took a lot in me to let others here in the blogs see that part of my life. I have been hurt by a few old lovers from here and now I tend to keep everything locked inside of me. I let the wall down for a few but with my luck they are so r away, that I do not see anything come out of that. With some here, I Cho not to let them in.

A sad fact of life is that men in particular are taught not to show they feel vulnerable in just about any way. Women also learn not to show it but often about fewer and different things I think.
Why is that so sad? Because we are all vulnerable and to not to show it to some others and too often for men anyone, is to deny a large part of who we are. Also to be truly able to love and be loved, that side of ourselves needs to come out or we will never attain the connection with others we all so badly need to be truly human and happy.
To show vulnerability shows strength because it opens us up to being hurt and we know it. It also opens us up to finding the connections to truly find ourself and the joy in life.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

That's pretty deep. I'll keep my life preserver handy to float above the sharks when I fall into that pool.

Trust I think is the most important aspect of being able to share vulnerability with someone. When we can be totally and completely ourselves, the sense of freedom is immense.

Allowing yourself to be vulnerable isn't time-consuming. But I do understand about being too busy putting other people's needs ahead of your own. I hope you are enjoying your Labour Day Monday and some of those great recipes you shared

You have always marched to the beat of your own drum and always will. Being true to yourself should always be first and foremost. Too many lose sight of that when they fall into that tribe mentality.

There is definitely a risk in showing one's vulnerabilities. A fear of being taken advantage of for doing can prevent an individua from being their authentic self. One of my toughest recent experiences was hearing my adult son sob on the phone...something he hasn't done since he was a little boy.
