Ten Things People Learn Too Late

The above was posted in a daily newsletter I receive from a local radio station.
I agree with many of the points. It's pretty hard to disagree with a man whose net worth is over $100B.

What have you learned too late?

For me, it's "don't sweat the small stuff". It's important to prioritize and let go of things that aren't important nor life-changing.

I would disagree with 3 and 4 and completely agree with 1, 2, 5, 8 and 9.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I learned it was better to have someone in my life but never to meet her, than to never have her in my life at all.

For me: !. Money comes and goes. True love and honesty is forever.
2. Nothing in life is so bad that it will not get better in time.

Love it and you are right, coming from a man worth $100B is powerful. wouldn't say I learned anything too late, but have had several reminders along the way through life that give a good solid kick in the pants.

thanks for sharing, always good to hear good words of wisdom. Have a great day!

#2 is definitely true! I think most of us find that out way too many times in our lives.
#3 is, unfortunately, not always true. If you have family that's abusive in some way, you may find that good friends mean more than family.

I would have to agree with Red on this one, but these are definitely good points and we should all make use of them each and every day as life it truly too short. I hope your enjoying a great Sunday..

Not sure that all would agree with number three.

Three of the things on that list I learned at an early age, simply because we moved around a lot due to my fathers career.

Two of the items listed go hand in hand.

As for the rest of the list, only time will tell.

For most of us, we can't choose our family but we can choose our friends and vice versa. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

I agree with everything except for 3 and 5...
3...To pagancountrygirl's point, It depends on the family you have as there could be abuse or other issues in a family.
5. Anger can be a motivator to get past fear and push right past it. Anger can create determination and push fear aside.

I think I learned #7 later than I should have. A lifetime goes by in a blink especially as we get older.

About number three I have had my best friend help me out in a way that my family hasn't. Does it happen all of the time no but I do agree that blood isn't always thinker than water. Number 4 I don't know about but I do agree with the rest of them.

We have two lives, and the second begins when we realise we have only one - Confucious

Family vs. Friends is the one that has sparked the most comments. Anger can be a great motivator or very destructive...depends on how it's used. I remember when I was young and I didn't understand my grandmother saying the older you get, the faster time flies. But now I do know what she meant. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your perspective.

I understand what you mean about family. I have seen it tear people apart. And think about it....you never treat your friends the way you treat family....friends can always choose to step away. With family, whether we like it or not, we are bound together forever. Glad to hear your best friend has been there for you when you needed it

This is a good topic Sexy.... You definitely provoked some hot buttons for people to discuss.

i should clarify about anger being a motivator to get past fear. Anger comes in many forms. We can get angry at ourselves if we passed up an opportunity because of fear. Or fear may not be a factor at all but we can still feel anger toward ourselves for not giving 1000% if it is a work performance issue or whatever the situation might be.

My grandparents said the exact same thing to me about time flying the older we get.

Off the topic they often said "Back when I was a kid, things were different!!" God help me for saying the same thing today. lol

Part of the fun of having a blog is to post things I find interesting. It's a bonus when others stop by and it evokes an exchange.
I know what you mean about things our parents or grandparents used to say. More than once, I have caught myself in mid-sentence and thought, "Oh my gosh! I sound just like my Mother." My daughter has also reminded me too.

Sing like no one is listening, love like you'll never get hurt, dance like no one is watching. I was never a very good athlete in large part because I tried too hard and let the "big" muscles take over. Used to ride horses and realized that when I "hacked out" with no pressure to do all the right things I did much better and enjoyed the ride much more. So before I started to take a lesson I started repeating to myself "Dance like no one is watching". My trainer asked me "who flipped your switch? Tonight was the best I've ever seen your ride". So I figured it worked when riding, why not try it in the other parts of my life - and it has worked there also.

If we can find the right phrase that becomes our mantra it reflects/resonates in everything we do. When we stop worrying about what others think and just be ourselves, it emanates from deep within our soul. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your perspective 😊
