The Power of Words

Sometimes I come across expressions, poems or lyrics that touch me to the core. They instantly evoke a myriad of emotions. And if I tuck them away, the same full-body, emotional response happens whenever I re-visit them.

Here is such an example which I found on the front of a greeting card during my travels. The inside of the card is blank so you can add your own message although I don’t know what could be effectively added when giving it to someone.

What expressions, poems or lyrics impact you each time you read or hear them?

We can all find words to inspire us. 👍
My challenge is remembering them in a crunch. I used to write them down in a journal but then realized I had no way to organize and find them when I needed them.

I keep things simple these days.
'Drive fast and check the fucking rear-view mirror.'

Don't ask me how THAT'S going; it's a work in progress. 😶❗❗

"Puff the Magic Dragon" will bring a tear 75% of the time.

Reading Little Women will make me cry every time!

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I use these a lot, especially the Dance like no one is watching. I have a tendency to let my big muscles take over so if I use that one it always helps me relax and do better.
Another I found another one on the menu cover of the Tipsy Tails Restaurant in Alma, NB, Canada - "Eat well, travel often"

A set of fine notations , we all would like to know we dance as good as is in our mind.. Not many that have not been hurt except the very young and it awaits them. Singing is akin to our dance we think it is great, untill some one records us and we hear it, sober! Our life here on earth can be heaven only if we want it , one just has to get rid of negitivity..work hard and play harded!!!
Our minds are full of a lot of very good words, the use is only limited by one's imagination!!

Good post , not seeing many lately, thanks

Those are good words to try to live by but not always easy to do. It takes practice.
I have always felt that the ancients had it right. Words have POWER! We humans tend to forget the power that they have and too often make light of them.
Do I have any words that have power for me? I am sure I do but my mind refuses to cough any up right now. Well, one word may qualify. Diane. The name of my first wife, ARGGHHH! and my current lover, WOW! It can evoke completely opposite feelings. More of the latter now than the former.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

I can understand why you feel that way about that song! A song that is guaranteed to make me cry is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz.

I agree words are powerful as they can incite a myriad of emotions. Wow! That is amazing to have 2 significant women in your life who share the same name. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your perspective.

Oh, I like that quote and seems very appropriate as I know you have been an avid traveller in the past as have I. Thanks for stopping by.

Oh My Gosh. You are so right about Puff. There are a few songs that always get to me including "Always On My Mind" by Willie Nelson. Hope you are finding ways to smile and keep cool.

I can only imagine how well that's working out for you.
As a musician, no doubt your head is filled with lyrics that hold special memories.

Yes, I have seen some great things and look forward to travelling again in the future. I tend not to collect things from my travels but that card really touched me. I hope your day is full of smiles
